AN OSM MUSICIAN AT YOUR SCHOOL – Workshops offered in 2017-2018

A. ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
I. Meet an orchestral musician
An OSM musician comes to meet the students and talks about his personal journey, practicing with his instrument, and the life as a musician in an orchestra. It includes a presentation of the instrument and a short performance.
Modalities
Duration: one class period (45-50 minutes)
Maximum number of students: 30
Cost: 125$ (taxes not included) + travelling expenses
II. Petting Zoo: Discover the Instruments!
A musician presents many instruments and allows the children to not only discover the functioning of those instruments and to hear them, but also to touch them.
Some restrictions may apply; possibility to invite more than one musician within a same workshop to discover more instruments.

Duration: one class period (45-50 minutes)

Cost: 125$ per musician (taxes not included) + travelling expenses
III. Chamber music concert
Offer your students a performance of chamber music! In an intimate setting, a musician or a small ensemble of musicians perform pieces of the classical repertoire. Includes a question period.
Minimum of 3 musicians; maximum of 5 musicians.

Cost: 125$ per musician (taxes not included) + travelling expenses
B. SECONDARY SCHOOLS
I. Meet an orchestral musician

III. A Morning at the Office
A special visit allows students to discover how an orchestra functions: meeting with a member of the administration, visit of the Maison symphonique, visit of the music and image archives, and meeting with a musician who answers students’ questions.

IV. Q&A at the Maison symphonique
Your class meets a musician at the Maison symphonique for a Q&A session.
Only offered in combination with a concert schedule restrictions may apply.

C. FOR MUSIC STUDENTS – SECONDARY SCHOOLS, CÉGEPS and UNIVERSITIES
I. Sectional rehearsals
An OSM musician conducts a rehearsal of a section of your orchestra or your band.
Modalities
Duration: 60 to 120 minutes
Maximum number of students: 30
Cost: 125$/hour (taxes not included) + travelling costs
II. A conductor in your school!
The assistant conductor of the OSM conducts a rehearsal of your orchestra or band.
Modalities
Duration: 60 to 120 minutes
Maximum number of students: 50
Cost: 125$/hour (taxes not included) + travelling costs
III. Group harmony
A workshop focused on team work and team building that will allow young musicians to benefit from the advice of an OSM musician on how to perform as an ensemble.
Modalities
Duration: one class period (45-50 minutes)
Maximum number of students: 40
Cost: 125$ (taxes not included) + travelling costs
IV. Masterclass
An OSM musician offers a masterclass to students, in your rehearsal room or your auditorium.
Modalities
Duration: 120 minutes
Maximum number of students: 3 students on stage + 60 students in the hall
Cost: 250$ per musician (taxes not included) + travelling costs

Notes:
The musicians will travel to a school for a minimum of 2 class periods, except for sectional rehearsals or masterclasses.
Travelling costs are calculated according to the mileage at a fare of $0.44 per kilometer.
Administrative costs of 10% are applicable on all these workshops.
If the workshop and return travel time exceeds 4 hours, an additional charge of $30 may be added.
