NEW CANADIAN AND QUÉBEC WORKS COMMISSIONED BY THE OSM

Throughout the season, the OSM will contribute to heightening awareness of Canadian and Québec creators by encouraging the composition of new works.

This will be a particularly auspicious year, as many anniversaries will be celebrated with great pomp, including the 375th anniversary of the city of Montréal and the 50th anniversary of the Montréal metro.

Six composers received an OSM commission and tailored their new works for the Orchestra, the Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique or the OSM Manulife Competition.

Composers from diverse backgrounds and different generations were approached to write these new works.

While some are considered leading lights of the younger generation, others are veritable pillars of today’s contemporary music scene.
